Birka Bj 644 – Now with a refined decorative detail
Our updated version of the Birka Bj 644 glass features a fine decorative line, matching the deep red tone of the rim. It's a small deviation from the original – which had a violet hue and a thin black line – but remains a beloved classic among history enthusiasts and collectors.
The design is inspired by one of the cone beakers found in grave Bj 644 at Birka – a double burial where a male warrior was laid to rest beside a woman. The grave contained no less than 79 items, including three cone-shaped glasses – one of which this piece is based on.
See the last two images for a comparison between the original and our earlier version.
